Over two years ago, Vanda Ralevska and myself created a group “Landscapes by Women”. LBW Photographers as it is called now or just LBW in short, is a group of landscape photographers who happen to be women. All members support and inspire each other in their pursuit of love of landscape photography. The group as such does not believe in “positive discrimination” and for all individual members it is never about men versus women, but there is a strong belief that female photographers’ work does not get much exposure. So we have decided to change the balance by showing the world through our eyes. Little did I know that we are going to get such a positive response from both, females and males! We have discovered and met some fantastically talented women, published loads of breath taking images on our website, FB page and Flickr, not to mention that countless articles and blogs about our group are out. This year, the icing on the cake will be the “Mistresses of Light” group exhibition in the prestigious OXO Gallery n September. A lot of hard work was put into it and ahead of us there are challenges and obstacles, but it is so well worth it. Our fan base is growing and we get a lot of great feedback, we are improving our image and visibility and by being more involved with other photographers regardless of sex, we have reached a perfect balance. As a result of individual members’ hard work and our efforts women are searched for their expertise and emotive quality of landscapes, editorial world is interested in our work and more and more of us are getting actively involved in workshops, lectures, publishing, exhibiting and direct sale.
