The medieval capital of the Hanseatic League, Lübeck, is a northern German city that I was lucky to visit a few times in the past. During my last visit, I managed to photograph it at night and soon some images from this delightful place will be added to my portfolio. The icon of Lübeck, the 15th century red brick Gothic structure, Holstentor, as well as seven monumental Gothic church towers characterize the city, but I have been more interested in the Old Town, with a series of gabled houses, as well as plenty of hidden cobbled courtyards and alleyways with medieval and Renaissance merchants’ homes, where time seems to have stood still. Discovering eerie cobbled street and photographing houses, often lit by just a single street lamp was a real treat and my images hopefully convey this place’s magic atmosphere.
